Dear Michael,
ReplyDeleteTwo things:
One, it's not a listing of NZ lit as such but simply of books I happen to own and therefore have conveniently to hand.
Two, your poetry books are included under fiction simply because (for ease of reference) I thought it best to classify each author according to the genre they're best known for. You and Mike Johnson (to give another example) are under "fiction", even though both of you might argue that you're more poets than fiction writers. Similarly, I've put the novels of fiction-writing poets such as Ian Wedde and C. K. Stead under the "poetry" listings. It's not a perfect system by any means, but it saves elaborate cross-referencing.
